Alkali and water resistant filaments for the rolling mill industry. A multi-filament is made up of multiple filaments wrapped and glued together with special resin. This configuration improves the brushing efficiency through maximum contact of filaments on the surface to increase the grinding capacity and brushing force to the tip of brush filament. The result is a higher cleaning performance.
Wide face brushes built using single filament just don’t have the cleaning power needed to meet today’s quality demands. That’s because single filament brushes have the abrasive applied only at the tip of the bristle. When the bristles get co pressed more than 3mm, they collapse, and the sides of the bristle come into contact with the surface of the strip. But the sides hold no abrasion. They can’t remove debris. The strip isn’t clean, and the life of the brush is shortened dramatically. But APT MULTIFIL brushes solve the problem with durable bristles engineered using multiple lines of filament.

APT MULTIFIL BRUSHES LAST LONGER AND MAKE METAL STRIP CLEANER
Today’s customers want to increase cleaning and line speed in existing (or new!) cleaning equipment. But the problem is conventional cleaning sections/lines have mechanical limitations.
Current line configurations don’t have free space to add new degreasing, electrolytic or brushing units—and line modification costs are very high.
BUT APT DEVELOPED A SOLUTION to increase your line’s cleaning performance using brush rolls filled with APT MULTIFIL bristles.
APT MULTIFIL brushes are engineered to your application, properly designed using brush filament specified to the correct length and diameter for your job. Strip comes out cleaner, faster than ever before.
Finally, it’s possible for you to get dramatic improvements in your cleaning section with little investment.

ADVANTAGES
APT MULTI-FIL BRUSHES are designed and developed to optimize the cleaning capacity and lifetime of brush rolls for coils and metal sheets.
The suitability of the brush roll is measured by cleaning capacity and their lifetime, but also for the cost per FT of cleaned metallic sheet and the risk of collapse and damage before the end of the expected long-lasting life:
. A brush that cleans a lot but does not last is not useful
. A long-lasting brush that hardly cleans is not interesting
. A brush that cleans a lot and is long-lasting but very expensive is not of interest because its tone cost per FT is to high
. A brush with a high risk to collapse is not interesting, because it is not reliable and creates insecurity in the production process
Each bristle is the combination of synthetic filaments grouped in a core, covered with micro-filaments and bonded with special resins. The process allows the production of a great variety of bristles with or without abrasive charge, with a specific design for each application. This increases the cleaning capacity and the lifetime of the brush.
More accurate brushing:
The micro-fi laments cover and reach all parts of the steel sheet. The cleaning capacity and oil and steel particle removing improve by up to 50% in comparison to conventional bristles.
More energetic brushing:
The grouped bristles with bonded multi-filaments transfer a greater impact strength to the edge of the bristle and grind off capacity increases by up to 50%.
Long brush life:
The grouped bristles with bonded multi-filaments wear out slower and more uniformly, increasing the lifetime of the brushes between 25% and 100% depending on the application.
PROCESS LINES
Coil surfaces are treated with alkaline and/or electrolytic alkaline cleaning systems and mechanical brushing in order to remove the maximum amount of metallic fines and oils from coil surfaces.
During the process, a hot chemical solution and electrolytic ionization separate the oils and metallic particles from the coil surface and the brushes remove it mechanically.
This combination of chemical and mechanical processing is the best system to clean the coils surfaces but, today customers are pushing to increase cleaning and line speed in existing or in new cleaning equipment.
The problem is that the conventional cleaning sections or lines have mechanical limitations to increase cleaning performance.
Current line configurations do not have free space to add new de-greasing, electrolytic or brushing units and the costs of these line modifications are very high. The solution is to increase the cleaning performance using brush rolls filled by APT – MULTIFIL bristles.

HIGH CLEANING CAPACITY
APT- Multifil is made up of multiple filaments wrapped and glued together with special resin.
This configuration improves the brushing efficiency through:
. Maximum contact of filaments on the surface
. Increasing the grinding capacity
. Optimize brushing force to the tip of brush filament
This all results in higher cleaning performance
HIGH MECHANICAL AND CHEMICAL RESISTANCE
Using high quality filaments that have the best mechanical properties for metal surface strip.
BREAKAGE REDUCTION
Reduce the breakage of yarns, improve the durability of cleaning and grinding power, keep out the dirt on the surface and prevent the gradual loosening of filaments and abrasive grit. At the same time products are durable enough not to be damaged by the edge of the strip or by burrs.
LONG BRUSH LIFE
The result of these special characteristics is that a brush filled with APT-Multifil, gives a higher brush performance for longer.
